The Department of Water Supply and Sanitation is under the control of a Minister in the State Govt. At present this Department is headed by Honourable Cabinet Minister Sh. Bram Shanker Sharma (Jimpa)  At the Administrative Level, the Department is headed by the Administrative Secretary who is further assisted by a Secretary/Special Secretary.

The Department of Water Supply and Sanitation is headed by HoD, DWSS and comprise of three wings namely North, South & Central. Each wing is headed by the Chief Engineer. The senior most Chief Engineer acts as the coordinator.
